It came from a tool we built for one friend - and a question another friend asked over lunch.
We're PettigrewLab, a small family software shop. It started when a friend who runs a lawn care company needed a few specific things - a smarter route between stops, real invoices, and mileage tracking. We built him a tool for it. That became LawnMow IT.
A while later I was talking about it over lunch with some friends. One of them owns a home building company, and he got stuck on one feature in particular: the photo tagging. He said he could use exactly that - his phone was full of thousands of client job photos he had no good way to organize. What he really wanted was to just upload them, tag them to the right project, and send a clean set straight to the buyer.
So we took what worked for lawn care and rebuilt it for the trades: the same scheduling, invoicing, and photo proof, but with the personas, language, and workflows a plumber, HVAC tech, electrician, or builder actually uses. That's HomeServicesIT.
It's still built the same way it started - by listening to one person's actual problem and solving that. Which is exactly why the next part matters.
